Sophia Reed and her family had just moved into their new flat, which compelled her to cut back money to pay for Christmas.
“What small Christmas money we had. . .and you understand to cover my security deposit to move here,” Reed informed KFOR.
Last week, a moment of panic came for Reed and her family. She couldn’t locate her 13-year-old son, Darius, also thought he had vanished.
Little did she know, her kids had a plan to surprise her.
“I had been afraid he was going to get in trouble,” Darius’ sister informed KFOR. “I was really frightened he was going to get in trouble, however that I just didn’t wish to say anything as it would blow the whole thing.”
When Darius returned home, he found officers awaiting. He told them he had been out collecting cans to raise money to buy his mother a present.
“I only needed to do something for my mama,” he explained.
Darius’ story touched the hearts of all officers with the Oklahoma City Police Department. They attracted numerous gifts to the Reed house.
“There was a lot of knocks on my door, everyone only had been knocking and every time I opened my door it had been the authorities, the authorities,” Reed explained.
However, the surprise didn’t stop there.
The officers raised $800 and introduced Christmas gifts and house-warming gifts for the Reed family.
“They grabbed us in the perfect time, you men, and we are so blessed and grateful,” Reed added.
